Shadowrun: Chummers In Low Places

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.

Session Zero Recap

The fledgling smugglers, on their first job, avoid getting screwed over by their client, Sappho.  But a fight breaks out between the smugglers and a gang of six Godz members.

  • Charlie convinces Sappho to pay up, using a frag grenade as a bargaining tool.  Kobe miscalculates the length of the timer and the grenade goes off while he is holding it.  The blast doesn't kill him but it does take him out of the action temporarily.
  • Crimson uses her worker drones to take out two of the panicked Godz gangers.  The drones are tied up keeping the gangers subdued.
  • Trash Heap uses her technomancer powers to disable all of the Godz shotguns.  This causes two of them to flee the scene, but the remaining two target Kobe with their fists.
  • Crimson and Trash Heap engage the Godz members in hand-to-hand combat, but struggle against the well-trained gangers, taing significant injuries.
  • Kobe makes a desperate move to leap over a ganger while depositing a live grenade into the ganger's hoodie.  The dangerous maneuver works and the ganger dies from shrapnel to the back of his head.
  • Crimson makes another attempt at taking down the last ganger, but a straight kick to the chest from the ganger keeps her at bay by breaking some of her ribs.
  • Kobe, still recovering from a concussion, manages to hold down the last ganger, to allow his crew to subdue the final ganger.

Results

  • Payoff: 6 Cred for delivery of the shipment.  1 Cred for retrieval of the Godz gangers

  • Heat: 3 (lowered to 1 during downtime)
  • Additional gains: 500 unassembled T-250 Defiance Shotguns

The Hungry Games: Setting

Before entering the games, every hobo is given these instructions:

"There are 60 of you total.  In one year, there will be 1 left.  You must combat your surroundings and each other to ensure that you become that 1.  There are cameras everywhere for us to observe your journey.  Around your neck is a tracking device for us to listen in on your progress.  Also embedded in this device is a very strong explosive.  Any attempt to remove this device, escape the compounds, or cheat the game will be followed quickly with the detonation of this device.

To encourage progress, if there isn't an average of 1 death per 6 days, we will detonate a random device to compensate.

Throughout the year, supplies, weapons, and sometimes deadly animals will be released into the games.

We hope you enjoy the games and look forward to your victory!"

The Hungry Games: Day 1

I release an adult Jaguar into the compound and broadcast sounds of wounded gazelles from each contestant's neck device…

Upon releasing the jaguar, a brave hobo launches out of the bushes to throw a spear at it.  Caught by surprise, the jaguar had no time to defend.   The spear lands….in the dirt, 3 feet from the hobo.  He is a hungry hobo after all and the throw was feeble at best.

If a jaguar could have ever been mistaken for smirking, this was moment.  Without sound, the fierce animal tears through the man’s belly like a knife through soft cheese.  The man’s only response was a guttural screech as the animal drags him into the bushes and through the compound.  A sudden crunch of bone silences the man.  The first death.  What a wonderfully brave and gutsy (no pun intended) move by a hobo.  His name will go down in honor….What was it again?

Upon devouring the man, our jaguar climbs a tree to find a resting place.  This time a smarter hobo was waiting.  3 flashes of a pistol did the job.

Now someone has jaguar meat and skin.  What an excellent first day.

The Hungry Games: Day 2

Eerily quiet.  Aside from a couple of warning shots, everyone seemed to spend most of their time coming to terms with their situation.  There is one guy that seems to be thriving.  I call him Abe.  Within the first day, Abe built himself a shelter in a cave and surrounded his territory with traps and noise makers.  Today, he caught himself some fish at the ravine and foraged for some nuts and herbs.  Already he is looking much healthier than he did when we first brought him in.  I think we have a front runner.

The Hungry Games: Day 3

6 deaths.  2 hobos tried escaping so their collars exploded on them.  Two hobos tried forming alliances with Abe.  He slit their throats the moment they turned their backs.  Now he has their supplies.  1 felt that the pond was safe for bathing.  The piranhas took care of her.  Last death went to a guy who ate a poison dart frog.  A group of hobos have banded together and have started to figure out what to do..

The Hungry Games: Day 4

The gathering of hobos from the previous day have decided that this is heaven and some god is testing their humanity.  Poor people are so dumb.  They’ve settled at a clearing next to the pond and have erected some tents.  They seem to be very happy as a community.  I wonder how long this will last….

Score

Winter Wave is ready to rescue her girlfriend, Samantha.  She finds it surprisingly easy to convince the rest of her crew to help her out even though they would not get paid for the job.

Meeting at a secluded cottage in the countryside, Samantha surprises The Privileged by introducing her new vampire friend, Tristan.  Tristan wants to get revenge on George, a branch manager of Hearts Investment, for scamming him out of his fortune.  This must be done before he leaves.  The Privileged agree to help him do this as well as transport him to North America.  Tristan agrees to give them the gift of immortality when they complete their end of the bargain.

Trash Heap researches ways of transporting a vampire safely, but the crew realizes Tristan would not agree to be submerged for the entire trip.

It would be too messy and risky to try to kill George at his office in London, so the Crew hatches a plan to lure George out.  Charlie is instrumental in convincing Tristan that this is a good plan.  Out of sight, out of mind, the rest of The Privileged hang out at a local pub with Charlie wearing a ridiculous bee outfit.

Using sprites, Trash Heap crafts a fake email from George's boss, luring him out to the cottage on an assignment.  There, George meets Samantha and Winter Wave.  Winter Wave fails to lure George into the bedroom where Tristan is waiting to make the kill.  George tries to escape but is cut down by Winter Wave.  Tristan finishes the job on poor George.  They leave a grisly murder scene and a message that blames Hearts Investments for the death of George.

To celebrate, Tristan feeds on Winter Wave, Samantha and Charlie.  The rest of the return trip is uneventful as Tristan was mightily satisfied with what transpired.

Back in Denver, Tristan turns both Winter Wave and Samantha into vampires.  Feeling unsafe in Denver, Tristan leaves for Las Vegas as suggested to him by the crew.

Bonus Scene

Winter Wave pays Bianca a visit on the campus of Anahuac University.  They agree to meet up with fellow Olympian athlete, Valentino.  The three spend some time in a dorm room during which Winter Wave feeds on Bianca.  Bianca confronts Winter Wave about this and does not react well.

Bianca and Valentino attempt to return to their safehouse.  Winter Wave stalks them with the intention of silencing them permanently but is unable to sneak up on them successfully.  Bianca and Valentino get away.

Bianca ends all contact with Winter Wave.

The Hungry Games: Day 10

This group of hobos have developed into quite a society!  There’s no money.  No Bartering.  Everyone just takes care of each other without question.  They’ve built a nice shelter and now seem to be plowing for a farm.  Everyone is happy and smiling….Weird.

At the same time, Abe hunted down and killed a contestant.  BAREHANDED.  What the eff!!

He snuck in right behind this girl at night and literally pulled her head off.  Who is this guy?!

The remaining hobos have kind of reverted back to their life on the streets—but instead of streetlights, it’s trees.  I keep forgetting how little poor people do throughout the day.  That’s probably why they are so poor.

Hobos are messed up..
